After upgrading to 1.3.0, the admin site is working fine except for the Magento Connect Manager. When you click on System > Magento Connect > Magento Connect Manager the frames redraw and you’re presented with a 404 Error - Page Not Found within the frame where magento connect manager usually appears.

However, System > Magento Connect > Package Extensions works just fine. It’s only when you attempt to connect to the Magento Connect Manager.

Any clues as to why I’d be getting a 404 page not found error? Did they move the connect manager and I missed the announcement?

Thanks…

Try accessing Magento Connect Manager directly here:-

http://www.YourDomain.com/downloader

I’m having exactly the same problem. Is there any fix on the horizon for this?

Actually, after playing with my permissions a little, I got it working fine. I’m on 1.3.2.1. Make sure that the downloader folder is available from the web root.

OK, I had this problem and like a few issues it seems related to file and folder permissions.

Try changing the permission of: downloader/index.php to 755

It worked for me.

Thanks for your tip.
I had the same problem. The cause was that magento is running from subfolder www/magento as a top level domain.

I just created a symbolic link in the root folder pointing the downloader folder. Here are a couple of examples to do it using SSH or PHP.

SSH

ln -/home/YOUR_USERNAME/public_html/magento/downloader /home/YOUR_USERNAME/public_html/downloader

PHP

<?php symlink('/home/YOUR_USERNAME/public_html/magento/downloader''/home/YOUR_USERNAME/public_html/downloader'); ?>

I tired changing permissions in downloader/index.php, but nothing seems to work… I’ve tried any arrangement of permissions, still showing 404 Not Found when I go to Magento Connect. Any help please? Maybe it would help to have a little more understanding of what it means to “downloader” from root folder. I’m not so advanced as to know what that means.

Any help is very appreciated.

I had this problem and checked my web server’s error log. The was en error that Magento was reporting there, that the file index.php in /download was writable by group. So, to fix this, I had to to change the permissions to 644 instead.
