Hi There,
I am having a big problem trying to upload magento to my server. I am hosted on a mediatemple gridserver and am uploading usting Transmit on a 500Kb DSL uplink.

I get the same problem every time - the upload stalls when it gets to the “Filter” folder and won’t upload any further files/folders.

I have also tried using a cable modem connection (completely separate network) and have the same problem. Have also tried uploading using WSFTP on a PC and that hangs too.

Any help would be appreciated. I’ve uploaded tons of stuff in the past and never had a problem like this.

Thanks .... PP

It would be the fastest.

1. Login to your ssh account
2. Navigate to the folder you wish to upload Magento to, commonly it is public_html folder in your account root, consult with your hosting:

cd public_html
3. Download magento complete package:
wget http://www.magentocommerce.com/downloads/assets/0.8.17240/magento-0.8.17240.tar.bz2
4. Unpack Magento’s archive:
tar xjf magento-0.8.17240.tar.bz2
5. Enter magento folder:
cd magento
6. Set correct permissions:
chmod 777 -R app/etc var media
7. Navigate in your browser to http://yourdomain.com/magento/ and let installation wizard guide you through the process.
8. In Download step choose the topmost button (Continue SVN Installation)
