been trying to install Magento for almost two weeks now but i’m still facing a blank wall.

My current host used to be in PHP4 but due to my request, they already installed in a different path, PHP5.2.5

PHP version 5.2.5
MySQL version 4.1.22-standard

I tried all the script revision i saw on all installation guidelines but i still cannot install magento.  All the needs to be enabled was confirmed by my provider as enabled and these are as follows:  rewrite_mode enabled and php_pdo.dll/php_pdomysql.dll loaded.

Now i am still receiving an internal error and goodness i am about to give up on this!

Wishing for anyone’s immediate help.

A 500 error?

This may seem silly but make sure the folders “cache” and “session” are in the var directory. If they aren’t, make them.

I’m not sure what kind of server you are on, but for Windows machines this seems to clear some things up.

a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

the folders you mentioned are inside the magento files or those outside?  just want to make sure.

My host is in Linux.

My host is in Linux.

These 2 quote don’t really go together, as .dll files are for windows setup only, in linux those are .so files

Anyways, please try setting index.php in magento root folder to permission 755 (User:Read,Write,Execute; Group:Read,Execute; Other:Read,Execute)

Also, when you get 500 error, usually there’s detailed error message will be recorded in apache log, you might want to get it or ask your hosting for it.

Which Magento version are you trying to install? Could you provide a link to phpinfo.php file inside Magento root with <?php phpinfo(); ?> statement?

Moshe beat me to it, but ...

Can you make a php_info file for me to see?

If you can, create a file and put this code in it:

<?php

// Show all information, defaults to INFO_ALL
phpinfo();

// Show just the module information.
// phpinfo(8) yields identical results.
phpinfo(INFO_MODULES);

?>

and post the link.

your host clearing isn’t running php 5.2.0+ or you’re not actually using it correctly.

You didn’t make your PHP INFO correctly. In the file, you only put in the above code and NO HTML CODE.

Hi,

Online Shop - 09 March 2008 09:38 PM

seems that Magento requires an administrator with indepth PHP skills.

not really, but it helps to know how Apache and PHP work together.

make sure your php_info.php contains exactly the code posted by Airforce and nothing else.
Use a simple texteditor to create this file. The URL you posted currently throws an Error 500.

Please post the content of the .htaccess file that is located in your magento root. It might contain invalid or suspicous settings that don’t match the webserver. Don’t post any local copy, but the one that’s currently online.
If you use a desktop client for FTP/SCP transfer but can’t see the file: some FTP programs hide files starting with a dot. Check the application settings so these ”hidden files” are included.
This phpinfo file can help us, trying to help you, to locate the problem more easily.
Once the issues are solved: delete the phpino file from your webspace! It contains sensitive information about the hosting environment, and the URL you posted is well archived in this forum wink

Have fun,
CirTap
