Hey all,

I’m stubborn as hell and an trying to get Magento to work in an IIS environment.

Server info:
Windows 2008 Web Server
IIS 7 - SSL Enabled
PHP_INFO()

Previously, in Magento v0.8.16100, I was able to get past the install, but had some problems with what I believe was short script (i.e <? vs <?php).

Now, I can’t even get to the install. I get the following error after a clean copy of the Magento dir:

PHP Parse error:  syntax errorunexpected $end in C:\inetpub\wwwroot\magento\app\code\core\Mage\Core\Model\Translate\Inline.php on line 247

Any suggestions?

Thought it could possibly be because of the PHP upgrade from 5.2.1 to 5.2.5 but thats not it.

Where can we redownload previous versions of Magento?

Ahh! Figured it out… I forgot about creating the folders “cache” and “session” in the var directory.

0.8.17240 works fine up until the download. Not liking PERL too much. Gotta figure a way around that.

@betabomber: I’m guessing you’re talking about PEAR smile

pear packages will be available in next few days, meanwhile use the topmost button ("Continue SVN Installation")

Ok, guys, I’ve just downloaded 0.8.17240 version and try to get it work on my local computer (Windows XP Pro, Apache 1.3.31, PHP 5.2.4, MySQL 5.0.20) and continuously get message described in this topic.

What should I do to install the application?
Can somebody help me?

Thanks.

In my case it was matter of short_open_tag set to “off”.
As I changed line 95 in Inline.php from ‘<?' to '<?php', I could see something like "<?=$this->__('Magento')?>” etc in output.

The problem is my host doesn’t allow me to set short_open_tag to “on"… Or at least it didn’t work when I put in my .htaccess file following line:
“php_flag short_open_tag on” - phpinfo() shows that short_open_tag is still off :(

Any sugestions?
Thanks in advance smile

Hooray! It helped!
Thanks!

But the question is WHY?
Why to use short tags? Not all providers allow them and users will have a lot of troubles…

Yes, exactly - it would save a lot of time for people who have problems with it and for people on Forum - they would not have to keep on explaining that short_open_tag should be set to “on"… smile
I hope next release of Magento will be free of this problem smile
