Custom Stock level import

Hi,
I am developing a new shop for a client in Magento (obviously).

I am trying to figure out how to do a custom import of stock levels from a csv file, using the conversion tools and an advanced profile.

The input file has the format

stkAmnt, itemDesc, itemCode
200, “foo bar baz”, PRO-123

Any pointers on where to start? I have looked at the documentation for import/export using convert and it isn’t exactly very extensive, and the standard stock import profile doesn’t seem to want to play ball, even with the relevant fields mapped correctly.

Thanks in advance

If it is just stock levels then do it in SQL rather than the SOAP API. There is a article on here on how to do it:
