Here’s a couple ways to make a slow load time speed up:

open your .htaccess file (it’s in the root folder where you installed magento)

Find the line:

############################################
## enable resulting html compression

#php_flag zlib.output_compression on

And deleted the # so it looks like:

############################################
## enable resulting html compression

php_flag zlib.output_compression on

This turns on compression & helps load pages quicker.

Also find:

# Insert filter on all content
## SetOutputFilter DEFLATE

And delete ## to make:
# Insert filter on all content
SetOutputFilter DEFLATE

This is also a compression thing I believe.

When I did these, it noticeably made the cart load faster.
