Let’s make it easier to keep track of what payment processing modules people would like to see by storing them all in this great big thread. We already know about certain modules Varien are building:
- Credit cards through payment gateways: Authorize.net and Paypal Payflow Pro (formerly Verisign)
- Offline credit cards
- Check or money order
- Purchase orders
- PayPal
- Google Checkout
Pay by phone is good, but also order by fax, purchase order, check (I know it’s archaic, but it’s still prominent), etc where the order is submitted online but the details will also be faxed or submitted via some other method.
Roy, interesting! I can see it working in some industries as well. I did a site for a furniture store in the past, that might have been a good industry for such. Anyway, good stuff.
WorldPay, PayJunction, CC Now, PayOffline… I think these are low priority, but hey… someone’ll want them eventually.
WorldPay is the biggest payment processor in the UK, and have a significant presence in numerous countries (including the US), so I wouldn’t really call them ‘low priority’
My vote (or even possibly my code) would be for Protx - one of the better value gateways in the UK.
Also, for the UK market, it would be good to ensure that the UK versions Google Checkout and PayPal work.
Its worth checking out what other e-commerce systems are supporting:

I don’t understand the attraction of WorldPay. At least in Australia it is ridiculously expensive--almost double a normal Marchant bank and eWay (leading payment gateway). And that’s with a low volume, the gap would widen as volumes increase.
