Is this possible?

Configurable products don’t allow text fields to actually be customer specifiable’, and the ‘Gift message’ doesn’t fill the role since the text field is needed at tim,e of selecting all other product attributes…

Think of this as free-form text for printing or engraving on the product.

Another future need would be to allow customer upload of a graphic image for printing onto the product… it’s part of the product, not of the checkout process, and I see no current mechanism to support this capability within Magento ‘out-of-the-box’…

Would welcome confirmation and any ideas for solutions.

Just seen the thread aon user specifiable attributes which seems to be asking the same thing… Is this available? If so, how?… and if not, when?

RobS - Open text product variances will not be supported for the first stable release. This might be developed by us in later versions of Magento or as I always hope by the community
