Hi all,

I’m looking at using Magento and I’d just like to know if I can put HTML in the product descriptions so that I can basicaly put some of my HTML pages in the description with (dare I say it) tables and posssilby lightbox images etc?

I only have a small number of products but I’d like to make much more detailed descriptions.

I can’t tell from trying the demo admin.

Thanks!

Maybe you can try with the Fontis Wysiwyg extensions.
That code adds an FCK or TinyMCE instance in descriptions textarea.
Search at MagentoConnect for Fontis_Wyiswyg.

You can paste html content into the textareas. That’s works too.
You can edit html and paste that content into Magento or you can use some editor like TinyMCE or FCK.

You can use HTML in the descriptions-- just edit the “Description” attribute and turn on “Allow HTML-tags on Front-end.”

Once that’s on, you can add HTML into the description in the Admin-- or import products that contain HTML descriptions with the “Import All Products” profile ...

However, as far as I can figure, there’s no way to export your products without Magento converting all your HTML tags into HTML entities ( < and > to < and >). When you import your products back in after they have been parsed into entities, the HTML is useless.

If anyone has a solution I’d greatly appreciate it.

Actually you try this:

export to XML and open the file with notepad. Replace all occurrencies of & with & and save. Now open with excel and your HTML is preserved.
