Stock and grouped products, configurable products

My suggestions about stock management and product types:

- Some products should have stock control (checking for stock>order qty) and some shouldn’t (like services). There should also be an option for each product to or not to let the item be ordered (and/or displayed) if unavailable.

- It does not make much sense for configurable and grouped products to have their own availability displayed, instead there should be stock information for each of the associated products. This should be displayed either in a separate table in the product page or as a column of the table of options (or both).

- There should be a default associated product for configurable products, making it mandatory or optional to configure them.

- Ability to display grouped products in a double entry table, with one of the attributes as column. This would be especially useful for clothing: size would be in columns, color in rows (imagine 6 sizes and 3 colors, totaling 18 associated products, meaning 3 rows for a grouped product instead of 18). This would be a killer feature (never seen a shopping cart do this), especially for wholesale purposes.

I’m not a programmer, maybe someone else could “clear up” these suggestions?

Thanks

I agree, a product configurator would be very valuable.

There are a few products we sell where a user has to select a choice from list A, which determines what choices are available in List B. Also, the choice in list A might also determine the prices for the associated choices in List B.
