Magento

hi. im about to create a little shop for a friend. he wants to start with just an online catalog just with fax and mail ordering…
later he plans to make it online too…
now. can i use magento as a catalog until he desides to use it normally ?
can i disable the cart and just show what products i have ?

or do i have to start the fight with typo3
