This will be the 2nd install I have done with a magento site. For some reason this install has been torture for me from permissions to admin access issues.

As far as admin access goes. Typically I access through http://mysite.com/admin on my original site.  Never had a problem.

With new install I was able to get in after fresh install from the links that magento offered up. Once I left admin area I thought the process of http://mysite.com/admin would work but it would give me a 404 error. After shoving a pencil in my eye for a minutes I figured out if I go to http://mysite.com/index.php/admin it logs me in typically.

I am curious if there is a way to change that not to have index.php. I have seen many others having login to admin issues and curious if this is a issue they are having also.

Txs in advance.

Do you have URL rewrites enabled? Does the server your site is hosted on supports mod_rewrite?
