Magento Checkout Customization

I’ve taken my project pretty far, but I’ve come upon something that I can’t figure out on my own and need some help.

I want to make the checkout process as simple as possible, as it stands there is just way too much clicking going on in order for someone to purchase an item.

Now, I like the way Magento checkout already functions, but would it be possible for all the sections to be displayed initially and with the rest grayed out?

Once a customer would complete all required fields in one section, the next section would un-gray? (Instead of the customer having to click [Continue] )

This would reduce the amount of clicks a customer has to make significantly. After a customer clicks “Continue” in the Payment Information box, then the “Order Review” should come up.

Can anyone help me?

The goal is to reduce the amount of clicking a user has to do:

Login or Guest [Continue]
Enter all information, choose shipping, choose payment [Continue]
Order Review [Place Order]

This has to be possible.

hey anton,

not sure what your asking for is possible. The continue buttons are used to run some js to check all fields are complete before moving on
The only way i can think of having less clicks is as you say reduce the pages. You could in theory compbine some of the pages into loarge pages. I think someone has actually done a onepage checkout.

What you will need to do is look at the checkout.xml file to see what pages are used. The roll those into a new page

Also have a search round for onepage checkout. I recall seeing a post about making a true one page

I’m going to quote you, davidmst, so that simply deleting your comment reply won’t be an easy way out.

David, you should be ashamed of yourself. You’ve literally copied their module down to every single element. Even the text: “Already registered? Click here to Login”, “1,2,3,checkmark.”. This is really quite sad, and as someone whose had his work blatantly stolen before, it makes me quite angry. There are many MANY ways of creating a very nice one step checkout, you could have done something original. Instead you’ve COMPLETELY copied them. This is just disgusting!

OneStepCheckout.com has been around for ages and their module is very mature, meaning all of the bugs have been worked out.

I bought my first license for it not much longer after I made the original post in 2009 after waiting for 6 months for two developers to finish the job, which they completely botched. My sales weren’t going up, in fact they went down, and I knew something was up when a customer notified me that they couldn’t check out.

You’ve stolen their design, and possibly, their source code. At this point, I wouldn’t put it past you skimming people’s credit card numbers from your customers websites. It’s definitely not a far leap, if you think stealing one thing is okay, why not another, right?

Believe me, the last thing you want is your checkout not working. And trusting a developer that didn’t come up with an original idea, and instead completely ripped off another developers work, is not something I would advise.

Hi Sir

i know extestion http://www.onestepcheckout.com/ , This really is a great extension.
but I also know a lot of other extensions
here are some Magento Checkout Extensions
http://www.gomage.com/extensions/gomage-lightcheckout.html
http://www.magestore.com/magento-one-step-checkout-extension.html
http://mage-extensions-themes.com/extensions/quick-one-page-checkout.html
http://www.mage-world.com/one-step-checkout-pro-magento-extension.html
http://www.aitoc.com/en/magentomods_one_page_checkout_booster.html
http://www.fmeextensions.com/one-step-checkout.html

I will not remove this post because I’m not a thief !!!!!!!!!

I may have over reacted, it just made me so angry that you made a blatant copy of someone elses extension.

You posting a bunch of links to other people’s extensions proves nothing. Especially, since the most well known developers (GoMage, AITOC) on that list actually have unique one step checkouts. Some others, are just copies of those, so a thief amongst many. Doesn’t change the fact that your extension looks EXACTLY the same as OneStepCheckout.

Sure, sometimes we imitate to create something, but you didn’t even put a person touch to yours. Nothing different, at all.

So, I implore you, take your extension down. Rework and redesign your extension. Put some actual thought into it. Think about how you can make the checkout experience better for the customer. Try to add some of those ideas into your extension. Make something unique, make something BETTER than what everyone else made. And then come back. Hell, if you do a good job, I myself might give it a shot.

But as it stands, you produced a copy of someone else’s extension. It’s nothing more. If you would like, please show to me how yours is different, I bet you can’t.
