Alright i have been getting the following error message

“Please specify the product required option(s) ”

with any product that features OPTIONS after adding to CART, options such as COLOR or other… etc

Heres the Fix

So under your Product Information

select: Custom Options

You will now see the following options

Title * Input Type * Is Required Sort Order Delete Option

MARK AS “NO” for the following: Is Required = NO

If you Select “YES” for “Is Required” your going to continue having the same problem.

Magneto Should provide a fix in the new BETA release for this major bug in 1.400, but in the mean time this works..

Of course if you have more then 1000 Products going to be very hard, since you can not select and edit it by SELECT ALL.
No idea why “Custom Options” was left out in the SELECT ALL - UPDATE Attributes, perhaps in the BETA they will offer this to.

Hello All.
I was getting the “Please specify the product required option(s) ” error as well when adding items to the cart with required values.

In our case (package/theme) we are doing some intense customization and modified the fields “id” attribute. In doing so , we unintentionally modified the “name” attribute in a few cases.
The validation routine therefore threw exception as no value for that field. Client-side javascript validating was not impacted.

Simply reinstating the original “name” value fixed our problem. We are able to continue to use our custom id attribute.

Perhaps this can tip someone into the right direction for their case .....

Best of luck
- O

I fixed this problem for myself.  “Please specify the product required option(s)” on every configurable product when trying to add to my cart.

The problem was with ssl.

my payment gateway underwriter required the whole site to be SSL (https).  I set it all up with an htacces, setup the secure urls in the admin, and everything SEEMED fine.

Then this problem happened, or rather, i noticed it… after hours and hours of trying to resave products, etc.., i removed ssl from the site.  Products now back to normal.

I needed ssl, so the fix is actually, for people in my situation, to change the UNSECURE url to https as well as everything else you do!  Now i am up and running, all products add to the cart, full ssl, and am ready to go live.

Hope this helps someone in my situation!!!!!

JM

I have also come accross the ‘Please specify product option(s)’ issue when trying to add a product to cart.  I have products which have options that are ‘optional’ not ‘required’ but it was not possible to add to basket without selecting one of the optional items.

I have read through the suggested solutions but I have now found a solution that seems to work well in my case.  The store that I have been working on for my client is a PC store.  The PC’s are being offered with a 1 year warranty.  Basically I have added a Warranty option to each of the products and only have the 1 year standard warranty as the ‘default’ selection with a price of £0.  The selection is a drop-down with user defined qty set to No.  By having an option selected by default it is possible to add to cart from the product listing without the customer having to make a selection.  Although this is not the perfect solution to the issue I feel that it is acceptable and could almost be used to highlight something that the customer is getting with the product.

This technique may not be quite as easy to translate to other products but perhaps an idea could be adding an option for packaging with a single selection for ‘Secure Recycled Packaging’ which is set as the default.

I hope this helps.

Paul

I faced the same problem below is my solution
Problem: it seems while importing the product has_options value set to 0 and in custom field have some value assigned.
Solution: just add any custom option in affected product then click save and continue button then delete all the custom option and hit save

Ok,,,

It seems you can solve this issue by typing in the correct way into the Custom Options Box e.g:

label:value

or

Comments:These are the comments.

Andy

@slater9000 yes this is the correct format to enter into the textarea when adding products with customer options to a order via the admin area.

I found this post very helpful, it formats the correct wording into the textarea automatically. Check it out, it works but its not 100% complete.

This will work :

OPTION_NAME:’OPTION VALUE’

Don’t forget the ‘ ‘ before and after the option value.

Cheers

So for you guys who are still having trouble with this, make sure your calls to container1 and container2 are placed inside the form tag.  If you have them outside the tag, you will get an error.

<form action="<?php echo $this->getAddToCartUrl($_product) ?>” method="post" id="product_addtocart_form"<?php if($_product->getOptions()): ?> enctype="multipart/form-data"<?php endif; ?>>

<?php echo $this->getChildChildHtml('container1', '', true, true) ?>
<?php echo $this->getChildChildHtml('container2', '', true, true) ?>

</form>

I hope this helps anyone with this pesky message.

Chris.
