POS & Magento - Stock Availability Issue

We have a POS integration set up to work with our Magento store. Stock figures are updated every few minutes and this is working well. The issue that we are facing is that when an item goes out of stock (stock updates to 0), Magento sets the stock availability message to “Out of Stock”. The problem is that when the stock figure is updated to a number greater than 0, Magento still shows the item as “Out of Stock”, regardless of how many we now have in stock.

Is there a way to automatically change the stock availability message when an item is updated and comes back in stock?

Hello,

Thank you for your response. I am not too confident with this so does that snippet of code go into the inventory.phtml file?

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. We have a system already in place. All we need is for the stock availability field in the Magento inventory section to change from “Out of Stock” to “In Stock” when a stock figure changes from 0 to a number greater than 0?!

Thank you.

You could simply update the field ‘is_in_stock’ when updating stock figure.

Or override method getIsInStock() in magento/app/code/core/Mage/CatalogInventory/Model/Stock/Item.php

Thank you for your reply.

Which would be the easiest way to update this field? Unfortunately, this is the stage I get stuck at and my knowledge fails me! Any further help would be greatly appreciated.
