Price should show up automatically in layered navigation. For Manufacturer you need to create an new attribute (eg: cellphone_manufacturers) with drop down and click yes to include in layered navigation. Then you list all the manufacturers. eg: Nokia, Sony

Next you add this attribute to the attribute set eg: cellphones.

Next you create a simple product and attribute set ‘eg: cellphones)

The manufacturer attribute will show up and you select the manufacturer from the drop down.

This attribute should now show up in the layered navigation. For more help see

Hope this helps.

Weird, my price filter is not showing up in the layered navigation. Furthermore, I have made configurable attributes and still nothing shows up in the category filter.

Any other ideas?

It could be that your product categories are coming off ‘root’ and not ‘root catalog’.. check if this is the case in Catalog > Manage Categories

Okay I got it working. Had to set the categories to Anchor categories.

Now just need to figure out how to break the price ranges up into smaller amounts. smile

Of course - Anchors! Let me know when you figure out how to break up the prices - I could do with this too! grin

Thank you sanfranman!

It was the Anchor’s on the Categories that made the browse by not showing up, show up!

Price should show up automatically in layered navigation. For Manufacturer you need to create an new attribute (eg: cellphone_manufacturers) with drop down and click yes to include in layered navigation.

There are several enhancements that can make a huge improvement for you price and brand navigation.

For price
1) custom price ranges.  The default ones usually looks like
1-100(87),
100-200(3)
2) Ability for customer to enter minimal and maximal values (budget)
3) Price slider as at the magento connect.

For brand navigation
4) Logos, descriptions and meta tags
5) Separate All brands pages
6) Featured Brands blocks

Check more must-have features at the Improved Navigation page.
