how to remove or edit “availability - in stock” message on website via back end

Need some help in finding where within Magento back end I can edit or delete the message “availability - in stock” message that appears on all products when you select to view and purchase.

have looked in pages and cannot find it there.

step by step instructions would be appreciated for this newbie to Magento.

First you determine what theme you are using and if the files of interest don’t exist there, copy them over to the active theme

You open the files, look for the appropriate text strings…

Some PHP experience required.
