Hi - new to Magento. Have had plenty of experience with other cms systems but for the life of me can’t figure this error out.

When I go to System>Configuration I receive the error:

Fatal error: Class ‘Varien_Data_Form_Element_Color’ not found in ....../public_html/magento/lib/Varien/Data/Form/Abstract.php on line 146

A search has found other posts with similar problems but no definitive solution. One tells me that:

“Lacked the Color class in lib/Varien/Data/Form/Element which provenais my template package.

It fails to mention exactly what code was changed - can anyone help?

Thanks

I think you have disabled your magento compiler. Enalbe it and it should work.
Do it from here System->Tool->Compiler

Please check if the colour.php file is located in the lib/Varien/Data/Form/Element. if it is missing, upload file enclosed.

What I guess is, you probably have mistyped the element type in any of your system.xml, instead of label you might have entered it in frontend-type.

<label>Color</label>
    <
frontend_type>color</frontend_type>
frontend-end type should be select, text, multiselect etc.

or if you really have this kind of custom frontend type, then you failed to create/place the element file under lib/Varien/Data/Form/Element/

Sorry about my poor english.

I had the same problem.
On template’s instructions, they forgot to say you to send the “lib” folder to the server.
Doing this, the error message disappear.

Good luck!
