Does your admin URL have an index.php in it like this: http://mystore.com/magento/adminsection/index.php/dashboard. Are your admin URL rewrites working? Has anyone removed the index.php from ADMIN URLS, I am starting to think it can not be done. The Magento DEMO store online does not have them removed.  This is my first Magento build, I am a convert from OSC. Isn’t this what ADMIN URL Rewrites are for? My rewrites work wonderfully on the frontend but not in the admin section, well they do see to work because they break my site; the page loads in part but the CSS/AJAX whatever is not loading, even the favicon does not load.

I have broke my site 10 different ways trying to get rid of index.php out of my ADMIN URL. I really could care less about it visually but I need to have the paths resolve correctly because I think it is messing up my ZEND UPS module. When I turn on ADMIN URL rewrite my site breaks and the admin css will not load.

I spent at least 40 hours on this playing with the .htaccess, and so forth. I even tried putting an .htaccess file in magento/js to do some rewriting and that did not work. I have read many forums on the issue but no one seems to care much about the admin URL.... understandable. All my leads have turned cold. Does anyone have a new trail for me to look down? Whatever you are thinking I would like to know. I am interested in resolving this for the couple people I see struggling like me.  I am posting a Bounty which will go to one person. May this person already had this problem and fixed it. If your tip leads to my final resolution I will PayPal you or your favorite charity $100 (or a check if in US.)

My other post on this matter: http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/34357/

I hope this does not break any TOS agreements on posting....be kind…

My admin works fine with the rewrites.  I can get the admin page from (example) mysite.com/admin or mysite.com/index.php/admin either way.

“When I turn on ADMIN URL rewrite my site breaks and the admin css will not load. “ Where do you turn this on?

edit - actually I still have index.php in any admin pages after login, but it doesn’t seem like an issue.  Why would you need those to also be rewritten?

For me, they also still work if I manually take out the index.php in the url -> so seems like a non-issue.  Somewhere in adminhtml the index, php is added to the links regardless of rewrite rules.

My admin works fine with the rewrites.  I can get the admin page from (example) mysite.com/admin or mysite.com/index.php/admin either way.  Are your regular rewrites working?  Are you doing a multi website set up?  Did you correctly enter all the urls in the unsecure and secure section of the Web panel in System->Config?

Yes, there is no index.php laced into my frontend URLs and my SEO URL entries are loading.

Are you doing a multi website set up?
No, I have a single store setup

Did you correctly enter all the urls in the unsecure and secure section of the Web panel in System->Config?
I believe so, since the front is working correctly, but here they are:

UNSECURE
Base URL http://www.myshop.com/shop/

SECURE
Base URL https://www.myshop.com/shop/
Use Secure URLs in Frontend YES
Use Secure URLs in Admin YES

I need them to be rewritten because I am working with a early build of ZEND UPS SHIPPING stil in ALPHA, and it appears to need ADMIN rewrites to get it working properly. My activity viewer is seeing what looks like some pathing errors.

Hmm… I don’t think that the server url rewrites extend to the admin section.  The Admin panel in configs has a place to put a custom url, but I don’t think that that is meant to rewrite the admin url, it’s more like a way to redirect a store to another admin when using multiple sites - at least that what it seems to be doing for me.

Why can’t you include the index, php in the ZEND UPS module’s settings for the url?

I agree, I don’t think the URL rewrites extend to the admin section, at least not for me. I see your point about the Admin configs. I was under the impression that these were supposed to work like those in the Web rewrite section.

I have explored the ZEND UPS module to see if there is anything in the GUI for setting URL paths. I don’t see anything at all in the GUI or Docs.

Here is the error I see in Activity Viewer

Erroruncaught exceptionAccess to restricted URI denied (NS_ERROR_DOM_BAD_URI)
Source Filehttps://www.mystore.com/shop/js/xajax_js/xajax_core.js
Line355

I think more importantly I found this is the Activity Message Section:

Security ErrorContent at https://www.mystore.com/shop/index.php/ordership/index/index/order_id/5/ may not load data from http://www.mystore.com/shop/index.php/xjx/ordership/.

I am wondering is the fact that my admin is secure http: vs https: . Though index.php/xjx/ looks odd there is no such path. and the /index/index/ seems like an issue to me, that is not going to resolve well.

I was perhaps barking up the wrong tree, I think. I know this might be rather impossable to solve at this point unless you are using this module. Unless you see something I don’t.
