We have finished development on http://www.wickercentral.com, a site that sells outdoor wicker furniture and http://www.rusticlodgefurniture.com, a site that sells cabin style furniture.
This is a multi-store integration so both of these websites are controlled from one backend. The multi-store ability was our primary reason in choosing Magento as our ecommerce solution.
Home page filter
We found a way to show the filter nav on the home page for all products in the entire store. This enables visitors to drill down to a specific product category very quickly.
We developed a custom Swatch picker that can be seen here: http://www.wickercentral.com/whitecraft-boca-wicker-lounge-chair.html
The key advantage of our Swatch picker is that the thumbs are not loaded until the user actually clicks on Show Swatches. This reduces the initial page load time considerably. Swatch lists are autogenerated based on the colors in the dropdown.
Upsells are autogenerated
We track which products each user visits and auto create upsell type relations between those products. View this product (http://www.wickercentral.com/whitecraft-boca-wicker-lounge-chair.html) and scroll past the description to see “Other Customers Were Also Interested In”. This feature helps us auto relate products based on how people are viewing them.
Best Sellers, Most Affordable, Highest Rated
These links under the primary nav are attributes that we manually assign to the appropriate products.
Checkout design has been simplified considerably to remove clutter while the user is completing their order.
I would love to hear your comments on the site!
