+1 any news on a stable release date?

I\’m having some tax issues and I know these are addressed in the 1,8 version… I am tempted to upgrade but don\’t want to risk screwing everything up.

My choices are to try and hack the core code or upgrade to a version that may not be stable..........

EDIT: Took a snapshot of my VM.... Performed the upgrade… Crashed and burned… Reverted to previous snapshot. :(

Just wondering every time I select check upgrades in Magento Connect Manager (Downloader) nothing gets highlighted as people say it is supposed to. I have to manually go look for upgrades is there a fix for this?

Actually I was wondering as well, when 1.8 stable release will be available.
It’s pretty silent from April on this subject.....so far we’ve been testing 1.8.alpha...can’t wait to see a stable release:)

Thank You,
Nick

I would like to upgrade, but i can’t see what version i’ve got running. As i’m looking for a new theme, i’m searching for the version i have and can’t find anything but that it says, 1.7.0.2 at the bottom… Can anyone tell me where i can find the details of it and if it’s a go, community or enterprise?! wink

Regards

Alright, here is the method I’ve used to upgrade from 1.7.0.2 to 1.8.0.0 (stable):

STEP 0: Development and staging upgrade

Please run this procedure under a development and/or staging environment before doing it in production, even if the procedure contains backup instructions, it’s always better when everything runs fine.

STEP 1: Maintenance mode

cd /your_magento_folder
touch maintenance
.flag

Time: 1min

STEP 2: Backup your database

mysqldump your_database_name your_database_name_date.sql

Time: 5min (depends on the size of your database and the ressource of your server)

STEP 3: Backup your folders

cp -/your_magento_folder your_magento_backup_folder

Time: depends on the size of your folder and the ressource of your server

STEP 4: Upgrade

cd /your_magento_folder
chmod
-R 777 ./*
rm -rf var/cache/* var/session/*
chmod 550 ./mage
./mage mage-setup .
./mage config-set preferred_state stable
./mage list-installed

If the last command doesn’t list you the expected Magento modules such as:

Installed package for channel 'community' :
Lib_Js_Ext           1.7.0.0 stable
Lib_LinLibertineFont 2.8.14.1 stable
Lib_Js_TinyMCE       3.4.7.0 stable
Lib_Js_Calendar      1.51.1.1 stable
Lib_Phpseclib        1.5.0.0 stable
Lib_ZF               1.11.1.0 stable
Lib_Js_Prototype     1.7.0.0.4 stable
Lib_ZF_Locale        1.11.1.0 stable
Mage_All_Latest      1.7.0.2 stable
Interface_Adminhtml_Default 1.7.0.2 stable
Interface_Frontend_Default 1.7.0.2 stable
Interface_Install_Default 1.7.0.2 stable
Mage_Downloader      1.7.0.2 stable
Mage_Centinel        1.7.0.2 stable
Interface_Frontend_Base_Default 1.7.0.20 stable
Phoenix_Moneybookers 1.3.2 stable
Mage_Compiler        1.7.0.2 stable
Magento_Mobile       1.7.0.2.23.1 stable
Mage_Core_Adminhtml  1.7.0.2 stable
Mage_Core_Modules    1.7.0.2 stable
Lib_Varien           1.7.0.2 stable
Lib_Google_Checkout  1.7.0.2 stable
Lib_Js_Mage          1.7.0.2 stable
Mage_Locale_en_US    1.7.0.2 stable
Lib_Mage             1.7.0.2 stable

Then you’ll have to upgrade using:

./mage install http://connect20.magentocommerce.com/community Mage_All_Latest --force

If your Magento modules were listed then use the following commands:

./mage list-upgrades
./mage upgrade-all

Once you’re done (you should see a massive list of modules saying ‘already installed’,’package upgraded’ etc...), you need to ensure your permissions are set back to normal:

php shell/indexer.php reindexall
chmod
-R 644 ./*
find . -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;
chmod 550 ./mage

Time: 5min

STEP 5: Make it live

cd /your_magento_folder
rm
-f maintenance.flag

(OPTIONAL) STEP 6: Fix your Tax settings

For those who have specific tax calculations, please have a look at the following link, some important changes have been made with 1.8.0.0 (you can find your tax settings in the backend under System > Configuration > Tax)

Magento 1.8.0.0 Tax Calculations

Feel free to ask if you face any problem.

Hey All.

Well i decided to update to 1.8.0.0 and now regret it. The cron task has stopped working and the checkout no longer gets past the shipping method screen.

Please can someone help me as i use the M2E extension and its stopping me updating ebay. The good news it that nobody can actually purchase anything from my store due to the checkout not working so at least im not going to be selling the same item twice.

I updated the site using the Magento Connect Manager and i did see a list of stuff coming up saying already installed and so on.

I am not a web wizard but have been able to cope with the install of the site and the M2E but this is beyond me.

Please can some kind person help me.

Hi Raphael Petrini,
have you seen any major improvements in performance?
it is worth an upgrade from 1.7.2?

Thx smile

@wilsonti12345 I think you should see with the M2E developpers, they have probably released an updated version of their module.

@Alecs00,

Yeah it seems like the indexing system as well as the database calls have been improved slightly.
But I wouldn’t recommend upgrading for performances reasons, it’s more a bug fixes and security improvements for me than performances to be honest.

As it’s a stable release, I don’t see any reason why not doing it (except if you’ve got non compatible modules).

Cheers,

Raph

I had also the checkout issue and I have found the solution:

In /template/checkout/onepage/review/info.phtml (at the end)

replace

review = new Review('<?php echo $this->getUrl('checkout/onepage/saveOrder') ?>''<?php echo $this->getUrl('checkout/onepage/success') ?>', $('checkout-agreements'));

by

review = new Review('<?php echo $this->getUrl('checkout/onepage/saveOrder', array('form_key' => Mage::getSingleton('core/session')->getFormKey())) ?>''<?php echo $this->getUrl('checkout/onepage/success') ?>', $('checkout-agreements'));

It should resolve your checkout issue.

@brcomdiego the code I wrote is to be used in an SSH consol. If you don’t have SSH access you can try upgrading via FTP using this method: http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewreply/462076/
