We want to put courses and holidays on our new ecommerce from our old site.

But I have loaded magento and it seems to just do a price for a product.

We have 1 product with different start dates and these dates have prices.

Is this possible or do you have any example sites?

thanks

This functionality is not supported in Magento and will require customization.

Do you know anyone else who has tried this? or if we might achieve it with virtual products?

Or finally if you or a partner might do the work and for how much?

Do it with an attribute type that has an attribute for the date.
Setup a product that has lots of simple products, each with a different price and date.
The date can be just a drop-down.
Doable? Definitely, but you will need to create an attribute with all the dates in it.
If there are too many then you may need an attribute for year, an attribute for month and an attribute for date. You need then only put in dates available.
Check out product types - simple, grouped, bundle and such like on the screencasts if you need more ideas.

Also check out custom product options. Adi is right, but ‘workaround’ rather than ‘customisation’.

Spec a few more details on the dates if you want more help.

Thanks Discovery,

Ok we sort of figured our the attributed on simple products.
The system we would move from is custom and you click from the product tick next to all dates in the year a course starts and press done. So this system feels very easy for the staff, I am not sure this way will look so easy but we do gain more magento features.

Most courses are set up once and new dates are added for the year once a year, so not impossible.

Requirements.
Once course is added add all monday’s for the year as start dates. (50 dates a year per course)
Then each course has prices for 1 week, 2weeks, usually up to 48weeks (but other types have 1 to 10 week pricing)
So at the moment these are separate screens. You can choose any number of weeks combined with one of the start dates.

I think in magento we may have to set each duration for each start date (alot of options!!) wouldn’t we?

thanks

One thing you could try is to have months and days, with simple products put in for available start dates.

Then for end dates, the quantity box could be number of weeks. You can edit the locale csv files for the text for that, so quantity becomes weeks. Then you can add tier pricing in for giving discounts after 10 weeks, etc.
