Hi all,

I have noticed a lot of times, the URL available on the home page CMS and other links look like this:
http://www.mydomain.com/index.php/tag/product/list/tagId/8/?SID=qc336fvFAM9U8ZCF41jXVOKGqj8aTAMQjxMV9IwVnJI=‎

I am noticing that a huge number of such links have now been tracked by google and classified as errors or non-reachable.

According to google webmaster guidelines: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769&hl;=en, these could be one of the many issues why less number of links are even crawled by google. When clicked, it doesnt go on to the next page and rather home page gets loaded.

This gets cleared after a search is performed or cache is cleared. Any idea what this SID on the URL comes up due to??

Thanks in advance,
Srini

Hey,

I believe it’s a random bug. It just happens sometimes. What seems to work is ENABLE SID, even if you do not want it. Refresh cache. Browse. Then, DISABLE SID. Refresh. Browse.

Needs to be fixed. But nobody’s home.

I don’t believe that this is a bug, so much as a feature that isn’t explained very well.  The SID (session id) is attached to the url when the link is going to a different domain or needs to reconnect to a session.  This can occur for a variety of reasons.  Are you going between an http and https (unsecure to secure) area?  Is there a www.example.com and example.com in your website settings that makes the store think it is on several domains?  Look very closely at your urls and you may find the differences that are causing magento to think it is going to a different domain.

Hi,

No - this has happened to me a number of times. On the same domain. No http/https or www/without www. It just happens. Doing as I explained above solves it though. If it is OFF, it should be off…

Thanks!
