I have set up a shopping cart rule per all the instructions and now I am getting Coupon code not valid

Hi,

Please note that coupon codes are cAsE sensitive...Also, watch out for any spaces in the code, for example “discountnow” is not the same as “discount now” or “discount NOW”. Also, you need to ENABLE the code for all customers.

And you need to ensure your cron job is running or rules will only work for one day.

Sorry for the confusion, in the original post they mentioned that they had set up shopping cart rules, which do require cron to maintain day to day.

Coupon codes, however, do not.

As you point out, however, they are case sensitive which is the cause of a lot of issues for stores

Same happened to me while I tried to upgrade magento last week, I know it´s case sensitive but I cannot seem to apply my coupon to the order. Help Please.

Same problem here.

I\’m having the same problem - \"coupon code is not valid\” after upgrading to Magento 1.4. This is on coupon codes we had before the upgrade, as well as coupon codes we\’ve created after the upgrade.

I\’ve made sure the coupons are set to apply to all products, all websites and all customers and still nothing. This is on all coupon codes - percentage off, free shipping, etc.

This is caused by having the admin panel in a language other than US English. When saving the rules make sure the admin panel language is US English!

In 1.3.x, if admin panel was not in US english, it wouldn’t let you save the rules; it was a bug. In the process of trying to solve this bug, the 1.4.x versions of Magento allow you to save the rule, but they mess up the product conditions, namely the part were it says “Apply if all conditions are ...”. As such, use US english in admin panel until Magento developers fix this bug.

I have fixed this error by giving lowest priority value to “Shopping Cart Points Earning Rules” in Rewards module than other shopping rules.

Wanted to mention here that if all else fails, rebuild indexes:

Go to System > Index Management

and rebuild All indexes

Coupons are working for me and they are not case-sensitive.  1.5.1

I made the mistake of entering the wrong rule type. 

Be sure to select Promotions -> Shopping Cart Price Rules
