Mark as Shipped using Mage

Hi, I would appreciate any help anyone can offer on this issue:

basically as many of you are probably aware, the existing Magento Order Management system leaves much to be desired. While it’s needs are many, for the time being I am simply aiming for being able to mark multiple items as “shipped” so I can print the packing slips in bulk, without having to manually access each order in the admin to mark as shipped in the first place.

I found elsewhere in these forums, somebody had helpfully posted this snippet of code which is used to get order Address information

require_once '../app/Mage.php';
//$orderId is a order id - numeric choose an order in admin and copy the order_id
$order Mage::getModel('sales/order')->load($orderId);
$billing $order->getBillingAddress();

I have tried to look at the phpdoc that relates to this bit of code, but honestly I can’t make head nor tails of it. So finally my question to you is, is it possible using this form of Mage function, to supply an orderID and mark an order as shipped? If that is possible I can write an external script to run through new orders and ship to remove the tedium of manual alterations.

Any informations or examples of working code would be great, thanks in advance for your time and help!
