DailyLunatic,
First, I am assuming your on IE6. In IE6 there is a bug when you use .png images, http://blogs.msdn.com/dmassy/archive/2004/08/05/209428.aspx

The logo on this site is a .png and this is what you see when the site seems to not completely load:

Correct. I am on IE 6 here at work.  ...but it shows the image when I go to /images/logo.png

I suspect the culprit is the missing file.  Tried going to images/icon_basket.gif and got the lockup.

Weird - I haven’t touched that file.

I’m doing a completely new install - with the new version - and that file isn’t included in that installation either.

Chris - how did you see that that file was trying to load?

Thanks,
Heather

Hi Chris,

Sorry - I should have been more explicit.  I do understand the issue with the png and IE6.

My real problem is with those images which aren’t loading. “http://www.blasphemysbakery.com/skin/frontend/default/blasphemys/images/icon_cart.gif , among other images, “

I’ve narrowed it down to the image paths for those images not working correctly - if you look none of the icon images (cart, newsletter, poll etc) showing.  This doesn’t explain why it’s looking for icon_cart.gif though.  There is an icon_basket.gif though - perhaps that’s the one you meant?

I have the same issue on my other site - but if I put in the hard paths in the css for the background images they work fine.

Any clues as to why this might be?

Thanks so much,
Heather

Ah, that explains the “server not found.” I picked a bad moment!

I just checked out some other live Magento sites and they ALL l seem to be very slow-loading.

I am giving up on the magento for the time being, as I just can’t install it on my testing server not matter how hard/how many times I try.  I’ve tried all the fixes for xampp posted on this site, but still get too many error messages to even post to the installation problems forum.  I even tried iblastoff’s site to see if he had any other fixes I didn’t know about, but no luck.  Maybe I’ll try again when the production version comes out.

I’ll be rooting for you and your site, and will check back from time to time to see how everyone is getting on.
