Hey Everyone,

I am playing around with Magento on my linux machine, but I have come across some issues (I also a newbie to linux tongue laugh)

Well I have LAMPP set up with xampp and I can confirm that it works. I was able to get it functioning for a drupal set up. So that is all good.

Now, I downloaded Magento 1.2.1, put it in my htdocs folder, and was beginning the setup process fine until I got to the Configuration page where it suddenly said in a big red box:

o Path "/opt/lampp/htdocs/magento/app/etc" must be writable
o Path
"/opt/lampp/htdocs/magento/var" must be writable
o Path
"/opt/lampp/htdocs/magento/media" must be writable

Now, I checked my htdocs folder and everything has permissions for me. eric:eric. I would assume magento would go under my username to make all these configurations, so I have no idea why it would tell me “must be writeable”

Here is the terminal ls -l information:

eric@eric-lunix32:/opt/lampp/htdocs/magentols -l

Thanks a lot!
