It’s still under development so it’s not to late to reinstall but if there is somehting I can do to avoid it that would be great - this is what happened.

Magento is under root of public.html
Password protected the file as customer asked me to do it - site under development
Got the 500 internal server error
Remove protection and password
The error was still there

Here is the error:
http://www.brodoappliances.com/

Is there any way i can check that my htaccess setup is correct - not sure what it should look like?

Thanks

Jo

That sequence is probably not exactly how it happened. If you added it and then removed it, it should be back to normal.

Better would be to roll back a backup of that file.

Also check your httpd logs for clues, this will have a descriptive error.

It takes two to tango, so don’t blame Magento right away if things go tits-up!

A. Get Zend Server - Community Edition is free and will make things a lot easier on you now and when deploying to production

Umm, I haven’t done anything else in there this morning. A roll back might be the only option and I seem to be having a big run on them! Last week I was building a villa booking site with Jomres and rolled back four times to get it working!

Thanks
