Magento is down, and out site is being promoted on TV today!  Any ideas?

Hi Tirko,

The problem is that your database server has reached the maximum number of allowable connections for your account. 

Sometimes in shared hosting this is set to an artificially low number to prevent any single client from consuming more than their fair share of ‘shared’ resources.

In the MySQL server configuration file you will likely find two entries;


You will want raise these, or request that your host increase the max_user_connections and possibly the max_connections, if necessary under your scenario.

This will require a restart of the database server for these changes to take place.

Hope this helps - TV can create very sporadic floods of traffic and you should be sure your hosting environment is equipped to deal with that kind of resource burst.
