Is there a list of what the modules do?

Our web host has asked us to decrease our server resources usage, and has given us a list of things to disable in Magento. One of them is to “uninstall any extensions that you don’t actually use. Disable modules that you don’t use: System → Configuration → Advanced → Advanced”
Is there a list of what each of these modules do, so that I don’t deactivate something that we need?

They also say: “Set only those attribute frontend properties to ‘Yes’ that you’re actually going to use. Set all other to ‘No’. Don’t use in quick search, advanced search compare, etc etc.: Catalog → Attributes → Manage Atributes → Frontend Properties.”

Same here. How do I know what to turn off and what to leave on, and in what column?

Thanks.

You are preaching to the choir! That is in the works, but I need this info so we have time to make the move in an orderly fashion.
Anyone??
