Magento

I already installed sample data, and edit the my.cnf file to activate the innodb table of my sql,
But when i try the Configuration page from my localhost with database username and password my apache server stop working…
I think my localhost ports are conflicting....But I have no Idea How to get rid of the problem can anyone help??
