Hello,

Last week we have upgraded our magento installation from 1.6 to 1.7.0.2

But recently we have problems when saving products and when customers are searching on the frontend, it gives an lock wait time out.

We have around 20.000 products.

Things we have already done.

- changed the innodb lock wait time in the database to 120
- changed the reindexall function in: Mage_CatalogSearch_Model_Indexer_Fulltext and changed it to function as used in 1.6

We are also planning to integrate APC, but still these are problems we didn’t face in version 1.6

does anybody also have these problems? or can somebody help us to sort this out? or where to look?

Try change index mode to “Reindex Manualy”. If “lock wait timeout” message will no longer appear, that’s you have trouble with reindexing data.

Hey @eyetrade, wow sounds like a toughy.  Couple thoughts.  For starters, it would probably be good to hone in on the exact query(s) that is choking.  See if you can tail your mysql log to find it.

Additionally, while you’re getting your upgrade on, you may want to consider just upgrading your search component.  There are some extensions out there like Better Store Search:
