I have a Magento 1.6.2.0 site set up and running with three different stores in 3 different subdomains:

e.g

default: http://es.example.com
store1: http://gb.example.com
store2: http://fr.example.com

I configured the Unsecure Base URL to http://es.example.com and the Secure Base URL to https://es.example.com. Also the same for all subdomains.

I can add products to the cart from any store but when I try to checkout I get a 404 error unless I am in the default store when clicking the ‘Proceed To Checkout’ button on the view cart page. The checkout URL is generated automatically by Magento and is different depending on the store I am currently in:

This works: https://es.example.com/checkout/onepage/

404 error: https://gb.example.com/checkout/onepage/
404 error: https://fr.example.com/checkout/onepage/

The same occurs if I set not to use secure URLs in frontend, so I think the SSL certificate is correctly installed.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could cause this problem?

Updates about our issue:

- If I disable SSL support at frontend the error continues.
- We have verified system.log and exception.log and nothing appears here
- We have verified web server logs and nothing appears
- The 404 page error is a simple default page from Magento itself, we have configured other different 404 error page
- All the non-default domains are running fine, the basket, the login (even with SSL) and CMS pages.
- Our server configuration: nginx + php-fpm + apc + memcached + mysql

Any ideas about?

Finally we found the problem, only for help if you are in the same situation.

The error was the Webshopapps Cash on Delivery extension. If you disable it all is running fine.

Now the problem is with the Webshopapps support because they don’t want to solve it, so we will change the extension with another more professional COD payment extension.
