I am having trouble getting an extension to properly install.
I will drag my extension files to their respective folders:
app goes to app
js goes to js
media goes to media
skin goes to skin

I refresh all caches and then Flush Magento Cache.

Good news is I can see the extension when I go to System > Configuration
Bad news is nothing appears on the website I installed it on

I have reset, flushed and erased every cache possibility that I can think of.

Anybody have any suggestions of a really good tutorial? I have done plenty of google research, but nothing seems to be helping me.

I have seen some pretty in depth posts in this forum.
Does anybody have any help with manually installing an extension via FTP?

For example:

If the extension calls for copying the files to your root folder, does that mean to just drag the
extension app folder to my app folder
extension js folder to my js folder
extension media folder to my media folder
extension skin folder to my skin folder

and then overwrite the file when prompted?
Or should I open each individual folder (app>design>frontend...) and copy each folder one by one?

As a matter of fact, for all paid extensions, you will have to install it through FTP. Only free extensions that can be installed through Magento Connect. If it is a paid extension, simply contact the extension seller about how to install it.

To install extension through FTP
contact your extension seller about installation guide,
they will provide you an installation path of extension.
Do not simply drag that folders into your magento root folder, because your magento should have different theme-name in design or skin folder.
so open every folder and then copy accordingly using path,
if folder does not exist in your magento then create according to extension otherwise copy files in folder

Usually you can just upload the files and merge them with your existing files. The extension should come with an installation guide and if it does not then you should contact the provider.
