Email not being captured on some orders

I’m running magento 1.7.0.2 CE

Sometimes, on my orders there are no emails associated with them.

A customer fills out their information on the checkout page, it requires them to put in an email address, however, in the back end, we do not see an email associated with the order, and the customer never receives their order confirmation because of this.

I’ve had it happen in Chrome and Internet Explorer.

I have no php, apache, or magento errors. Has anyone else had this problem?

This happens may to 1 in 50 or so orders. I’m not sure why.
