Hello, i have installed magento onto my domain server at domain/magento, and have it working.
The old store was in domain/htdocs folder and is still running. If you type http://www.domain.com it will open htdocs/index.php

How do i get my server to show domain/magento/index.php if i type in http://www.domain.com.

I have tryed the following, i edited htdocs/index.php file into:

<?php
header
("Location: http://magento.domain.com");

exit;
?>

This does the trick. Now if i type in my http://www.domain.com page, it actually goes to magento.domain.com and shows my store.
BUT the problem is, it still displays the http://magento.domain.com url.

I want the url to be http://www.domain.com

It is my first time installing magento, so please help me.

Basically this link is describing my problem:

http://www.customerparadigm.com/magento-seo-mistake-5-default-subdomains/

“any Magento sites are developed in a sub-domain (i.e. shop.yourdomain.com) during a testing phase, and then when it`s time to go live with the site, the store is just left in the subdomain… because it`s easier.”

It does not describe the process of how tho.

Anybody?
