I get a folder page not found when trying to install magento on a server where I have my existing site located.

I know this URL /www.awardzone.net/magento/install - will not take me to the magento folder where I uploaded all the magento files because the server is directing the http://www.awardzone.net to a www directory where all the present site folders and files are located

Q. How do I access the magento folder to access the install?

Presently the magento folder is locate in the root/magento on the site. if I us http://www.awardzone.net it is presently directed to the present www site folder.

Q. Do I temporarily have the site directed to the magenta folder to access the install?

I want to have my existing site up while I am working on my new e-commerce site.

Q. Is this the best way to handle this situation or is there another way?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want the both websites up you should :

- Install a new domain or subdomain like test.mysite.com
- Redirecting to the magento folder
- Install and configure your shop
- Then change the Magento settings ( URLs of the website, link to your root folder)

This way you can have your both websites under control wink

Good Luck
