Hello Everyone,
I have opened the permissions to 777, but when ever i try installing an extension i get this error.
CONNECT ERROR: Can’t open file package.xml for writing. Permission denied.

Does anyone have any idea on how to fix this?

Can anyone offer any help please?

Contact your hosting company and ask them if you have a firewall in place for your domain, if so ask them to add a rule to allow all incoming and out going traffic for a short period of time and try the install again.

I have exactly the same problem on my new installation of magento (community edition v.1.7), but there is no firewall on my domain.

Do you have another idead to fix it ?
