i’m just wondering,
dont you guys think magento is a bit slow?

it’s not quick and responsive like some other websites.

this might really damper the customer experience imo.

is there anyway to speed this up like via some sort of caching etc… ?

btw, i am on a dedicated server w/ 10 mbps oc-3 with 0% load so there should be no reason to be slow at all

We haven’t noticed any big issue with performance. That said, this is an important area for us and I am sure the product will continue to improve, including on the performance side.

I noticed that as well and I am hosting with 1and1 shared hosting.
I find magento really show for now.

yeah but 1&1;was always slow. they are just horrible imo.

anyone hosted somewhere else that’s actually reall speedy ?  hows the performance on mediaTemple?

is this a server related optimization issue that maybe apc or mod_gzip can solve for me?

so far i tried on simplehelix and they have actually been the fastest that i’ve tried so far, and i’m really thinking of signing up with them.

Seems very slow for me as well.  And my server is really fast for my other cart system.

It’s a little slow on MediaTemple as well.  Firebug clocks my installation at 10-15 seconds.  There’s plenty to be optimized over the next couple of months.  I wouldn’t worry about it now.
