I had simplehelix install magento for me and it was installed in the /magento directory. So the magento index page for my site is:

http://myurl.net/magento/default/

Problem is I really need my home page of the site to be:

http://myurl.net/default/

I’ve already been setting up categories and a few items. How do I get that changed please?

Thank you,
Dave

pull your default folder out of magento. If it %#$@$@# your site, undo the changes. Also in your admin folder, you can set the default path to magento.

Warning: if you set a wrong path to magento in admin, you’d be locked out of it (at which point you’ll have to edit your db tables to rectify the problem). I think you probably need to follow both the steps mentioned above. Change your magento root path to http://www.xxx./default in admin, and then make the necessary folder changes.

In case you mess up, do a search for “the new URL” in your database (I use PHP-myadmin), and change it back. Make a backup full backup of magento before proceeding.
