Standard?? there is not any standard, as you like. It depends of the numbre of products, the kind ...

If you want use one similar like Magenton ones, you can see it in the list, and in the detailed view doesn´t matters

Hello Guy’s

Small Image -> Used in category landing/product listing page, recommended size: 135px X 135px

Base Image -> Main product image in Product View page, Base Image can be whatever, though, the default is set to 265px wide.

Recommended size for thumbnail is 50 X 50px.

Of course, the following dimensions are working best with the current interface.
One more thing, we are working on a new image management module, that should be released soon.

Hope this helps.

I have been using 68x68 for thumbnails instead of 50x50 because if you add additional product images with 50x50, it blows them up to 68x68 causing the image to look distorted.

You can’t autoresize them, you’ll need to use an image editor - like Photshop.

You can’t autoresize them, you’ll need to use an image editor - like Photshop.

There are a few PHP scripts and functions you can throw in to do an auto-resize, and there are plenty of batch resizing programs for Windows too (I don’t remember the names, and I just traded in my Windows machine for a Mac two days ago, so if anyone knows the names of programs that do that for the Mac, let me know).

If you’re new at programming, or don’t know how to program, I recommend hiring someone out to do the auto-resize for you.  Plus you’ll have to decide if you want to use images from the cache or made on the fly, or a hybrid.

Also, depending on how the images are stored (I haven’t looked at the DB to see), if they’re stored in the DB, you can just add two more fields, x_size, y_size, and use that in the script, or cut out the SQL route and just use the PHP functions to get the images X and Y values and put that in.

Either way, you can go all sorts of routes with this, depending on what you know, and what you’re willing to do to get what you want done (i.e. paying someone, waiting around until someone else does it, or learning on your own).

Check out the DirectResize extension for Magento. Haven’t tried it yet but it might do the job for you

Well, the sample/placeholder images (in the default/images/catalog/product/placeholder) are:
50 x 50 - thumbnail
135 x 135 - small image
262 x 262 - main image

Note: the 262 x 262 eliminates the image zoom thingy from appearing on the product page - sweet!

300x265 if you want to make it centered width (removes gimmicky zoom).

170x170 for small grid/list images

Heej,

I had the same problem,

to make it bigger, go to

app - deisgn - frontend - default - yourtheme - template - catalog - product

then list.phtml

search for:

<img src="<?php echo $this->helper('catalog/image')->init($_product, 'small_image')->resize(225, 225); ?>” width="225" height="225" alt="<?php echo $this->htmlEscape($this->getImageLabel($_product, 'small_image')) ?>” title="<?php echo $this->htmlEscape($this->getImageLabel($_product, 'small_image')) ?>” />

I put it on 225 where it was originalie 135px.

grtz
