So what i gather is you want your new arrivals to simple display an image nothing else? correct me if im wrong.

At a glance, check your template for new.phtml via

app->design->frontend->default->YOUR-TEMPLATE->template->catalog->product->new.phtml

if its does not exist go to the the directory below and copy it into your template directory (same as above)

app->design->frontend->base->default->template->catalog->product->new.phtml

Look for this code:

<ul class="products-grid">

<?php endif ?>

<li class="item<?php if(($i-1)%$_columnCount==0): ?> first<?php elseif($i%$_columnCount==0): ?> last<?php endif; ?>">
                <
a href="<?php echo $_product->getProductUrl() ?>" title="<?php echo $this->htmlEscape($_product->getName()) ?>" class="product-image"><img src="<?php echo $this->helper('catalog/image')->init($_product, 'small_image')->resize(135) ?>" width="135" height="135" alt="<?php echo $this->htmlEscape($_product->getName()) ?>" /></a>
                <
h3 class="product-name"><a href="<?php echo $_product->getProductUrl() ?>" title="<?php echo $this->htmlEscape($_product->getName()) ?>"><?php echo $this->htmlEscape($_product->getName()) ?></a></h3>

<?php echo $this->getReviewsSummaryHtml($_product'short'?>
                <?php
echo $this->getPriceHtml($_producttrue'-new'?>

<div class="actions">

<?php if($_product->isSaleable()): ?>

<button type="button" title="<?php echo $this->__('Add to Cart') ?>" class="button btn-cart" onclick="setLocation('<?php echo $this->getAddToCartUrl($_product) ?>')"><span><span><?php echo $this->__('Add to Cart'?></span></span></button>

<?php else: ?>

<class="availability out-of-stock"><span><?php echo $this->__('Out of stock'?></span></p>

<?php endif; ?>

<ul class="add-to-links">

<?php if ($this->helper('wishlist')->isAllow()) : ?>

<li><a href="<?php echo $this->getAddToWishlistUrl($_product) ?>" class="link-wishlist"><?php echo $this->__('Add to Wishlist'?></a></li>

<?php endif; ?>
                        <?php
if ($_compareUrl $this->getAddToCompareUrl($_product)): ?>

<li><span class="separator">|</span> <a href="<?php echo $_compareUrl ?>" class="link-compare"><?php echo $this->__('Add to Compare'?></a></li>

<?php endif; ?>

</ul>
                </
div>
            </
li>

<?php if ($i%$_columnCount==|| $i==count($_products)): ?>

</ul>

You can either cut some out so only the image and link is left like:

<ul class="products-grid">

<?php endif ?>

<li class="item<?php if(($i-1)%$_columnCount==0): ?> first<?php elseif($i%$_columnCount==0): ?> last<?php endif; ?>">
                <
a href="<?php echo $_product->getProductUrl() ?>" title="<?php echo $this->htmlEscape($_product->getName()) ?>" class="product-image"><img src="<?php echo $this->helper('catalog/image')->init($_product, 'small_image')->resize(135) ?>" width="135" height="135" alt="<?php echo $this->htmlEscape($_product->getName()) ?>" /></a>

            </
li>

<?php if ($i%$_columnCount==|| $i==count($_products)): ?>

</ul>

or you can use the entity id’s to “display:none” in the CSS

Just note i havn’t tested this and this is very rough so may be incorrect, however its a point the correct direction i hope.

Good luck!!
