We use POSIM for windows but they also provide a mac version. They have a product called ePosim that runs independently as a linker service that uploads inventory via xml and downloads orders via xml. You would have to do the actual integration programming with magento in their php script but I would offer up any of our work we have done. Its been working very well for us the last year.
We are currently using Magento as our POS. It can be a little slower then using a scanner but it does not make more then a 10 second difference to our customers. We also give them the ability to see orders in realtime on our server which is a big perk for us. We do not use the Maison du logiciel extension because we do not think it adds enough for the price.
To speed up the checkout process we do use the Lemonline simpleadmin payment and do not track the payment type in store. This allows you to automatically create a shipment and an invoice.
We also have found that now that we email receipts we print a quarter of the receipts we use.
Is anyone using Magento as a POS web front end on their register and what extensions are they using? This would simplify my retail channel as we are not happy with the POS we have now for 20 stores. We don’t do a high volume of transactions so we can deal with internet delay speed (which is not bad).
You might try our new POS solution for Magento:

Also using Magento as POS web front end, having intuitive interface, I believe it can help your retail shops efficiently operate. Please don\’t hesitate to contact us for more details or comments.
I agree that Quickbooks is probably the best solution to your problem. Our company would be a great option, but we haven’t included Magento integration yet. I do however work with a bunch of people who use Magento and they seem to be content with the Quickbook option. Physical to digital point of sale integration can still be tricky and I wish you all the best!
Be sure to use a manual coding for that online purchasing and also that physical store purchasing.. We have also used manual coding to buy online products like Point of sales and Bar code systems… etc.
Also use that contribution available in magento community forum for ONline Purchasing..
I think our solution Brightpearl would offer the functionality you require. Brightpearl is an end to end business management system that connects your Magento webstore and POS to your back end business software (inventory, accounts, order management and more). There is also the ability to integrate the system with eBay as well.
The advantage of integrating all your sales channel through a single system is that all sales that you make will automatically update across all the channels. So you don’t need to import data back and forth between systems and will never sell the same item twice by mistake.
Our system is cloud based to so you’ll have no problem running it on a Mac, or indeed any computer. All you need is a Internet connection and you’re good to go.
We offer a 30 day free trial so you could have a good chance to take a look and assess whether it would be a suitable solution for you business.
