“Table Already Exists” error upgrading database 1.6.2.0 to 1.7 (Fresh Install)

I’m trying to upgrade a 1.6.2.0 installation (in a test environment) using a clean install of 1.7. I installed the 1.7 files, did a mysql dump of the 1.6.2.0 database, created a new database and restored the dump into the new database. However, when I run the installation script in the browser, I get a “There has been an error processing your request” notice. The log file says:

SQLSTATE[42S01]: Base table or view already exists: 1050 Table ‘catalog_product_entity’ already exists”

Now I went into PHPmyadmin and attempted to drop this table, but it won’t let me do that due to a foreign key constraint. Any help much appreciated.

I’ve solved this problem. I was comparing the MySQL dump vs. a backup done a couple months ago, and it was only 80mb vs 243 mb. I did another dump and this time it was the full 250+ mb. (actual database size is 800mb). I imported the new sql dump and ran the installer again, worked fine with no errors.
