i have done customizations for the Magento and before going to the testing phase i would like to add Favicon to it,
i tried overwriting the existing favicon in the root folder but it didn’t work
There is Favicon in the root folder and another favicon in the shop folder I have replace both favicons in those folders and still no change It must be a cache issue
Hi, I’ve replaced the favicon in all the folders that Magento’s one appeared, cleared the cache(s) in System>Cache Management, and still Magento’s favicon prevails! ??
Some servers cache favicons. Sometimes it takes weeks for a favicon to update regardless if whether you’ve cleared your brower’s cache.
I was having this same issue in Firefox. I had tried all of the above solutions and I had completely deleted the favicon files from the server in all of the skin folders and the root folder, re-uploaded them, and then was still having the issue after clearing the cache and setting about:config. What finally did it was deleting all favicon files except the one in the root installation folder along with your index.php file, which solved my problem. Hope that helps someone.
If your replacing your fav icon just upload it to the root folder and your template folder.
The best and most simply way to see it in your browser is to visit the absolute url of the icon like this (example this website):
http://www.magentocommerce.com/favicon.ico
If you replaced it, just give it a hard refresh (ctrl + f5) and you’ll see a new icon.
Then it works out in your website as well.
So just visit the absolute url instead of clearing magento cache and browser cache, it saves time
Create a Favicon.ico Here!!! http://www.degraeve.com/favicon/ then upload to image folder in your theme! yay a new favicon and its an .ico so no more problems of it not showing!
Not sure what I am doing wrong. But I have changed all the favicons that I can find. In the admin root and skin. When I got to my domain/favicon.ico I see mine. but on my site I still get the magneto default icon.
