Hallo, we just realized that there’s no option for the customer to use a coupon code on a clients website.
When I check the specific files, everything seems to be there and I have no more ideas about what could cause this problem.
Any help would be very appreciated.

The Website is http://www.bangkokshirts.asia/

Thanks in advance.

Have you setup a coupon?

If you go into the Magento admin and then go

Promotions -> Catalog Price Rules

Then add a new rule. Apologies if you’ve already done this. If not this, could you give a bit more information about what’s not working?

I did it after reading your answer. Luckily it took me only minutes to fix the bug, which is still existing from verion 1.2.x ( http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/18062/P0/ ).

Anyway, we don’t need Catalog Price Rules, we need Shopping Cart Rules, slightly different. And yes, I added them already before.

Just go to any magento shop, add a product and go to your shopping cart. In the lower left corner, next to the promotion image, you’ll normally have one field to enter a coupon code ( promotion code, voucher, whatever).
That one is missing in our shop, so customers can’t use there vouchers.

Hi,
Go to Promotions->Shoppingcart price rules, and click Add new rule,
Here enter Rule name, select status active, and select coupon for specific coupon, and then enter coupon code , and set conditions and enter discount amount.

Once again, this is not the problem. There is an active coupon code, but different to all other magento installations i’ve seen before, there is no option for the customer to use a coupon code, cause the coupon code input field in the shopping cart is missing.

I had the same problem.  Check to see if the following line was comment out in app/design/default/default/layout/checkout.xml or app/design/default/YOUR_THEME/layout/checkout.xml

<block type="checkout/cart_coupon" name="checkout.cart.coupon" as="coupon" template="checkout/cart/coupon.phtml"/>

If it is, just remove the comment code.

For me it was okay in the default but my custom theme had it commented out.

For me it was okay in the default but my custom theme had it commented out.

I didn’t even have a checkout.xml file in those folders, just in base folder. Wasn’t commented out, so seems to be a very special problem.
Thanks for your help anyway.

I’m sure you searched, but the directory was supposed to be app/design/FRONTEND/default/YOUR_THEME/layout/checkout.xml I forgot the frontend part when I posted.

Otherwise, hope you can track down the problem I know how frustrating it was for me.

Yes I did, wasn’t there.

Thanks a lot, Magento is very frustrating and I won’t use it anymore in the future, but now I have to find the problem somehow.

Hi, I may have just solved this for myself. What I did was reupload an original version of the:
App-Code-Code-Mage-Checkout
folder, and then .. so far, so good. It was not the theme at all.

Hopefully that helps.

In my case none of the theme files were commented out for the reference to printing the coupon field.
