Thanks very much for your thoughts code4beer, and sorry for the delay in replying to your post and Brenden’s (Vee). As I’m sure you’ll appreciate, at this point no-one wants to see a release more than we do, and hence the reason for our lack of response - we’ve been working very hard to make this happen! Unfortunately another week has indeed slipped by; there have been many challenges to overcome, but all I can say is that a release is absolutely, positively, most definitely imminent, and will be announced in this thread just as soon as it goes live. We have taken the questions from this thread into account, and will certainly be publishing screenshots and an FAQ which should help fill in the gaps as to exactly how our solution works, and better equip everyone to determine if it will meet their needs or the needs of a client. Please bear with us for just a bit longer, we really appreciate your patience!

Lloyd, Does the Fontis MYOB solution deal with MYOB Premier and the Multiple selling price issues if there are issues (?) as our site when completed (getting there) will be a 4 store multi site installation with 1 product list of 300+ products, one company MYOB file with 4 separate trading names and hence 4 separate selling prices within Magento & MYOB. The product list when exported as CSV is A to CM wide, 320 rows deep.

Have you or can you address these issues over that of say MYOB Accounting 17 (which doesn’t allow multiple selling prices of the same item) as this is what we are looking at for the 09-10 year.

Hi everyone. First of all we’d like to thank you all again for your patience while we completed development and testing of our MYOB connector software. We needed the extra time to ensure that the product delivered meets our high standards for quality and reliability, and to ensure the product worked with the latest versions of MYOB, Magento and Windows.

So without further ado, we would like to present Fontis M2M Sync, available with more information here: http://www.fontis.com.au/software/m2m-magento-myob-sync

This is a Windows application that runs on your local computer with MYOB installed, and connects remotely to your Magento store. As has been mentioned, we are providing the software on a yearly subscription basis, which includes comprehensive documentation, support, upgrades, and a 30-day money back guarantee.

As an added bonus for early adopters and the end of the financial year, we’re currently offering the first year’s subscription for only $399, a saving of 20%. This offer will only be available until the end of June so get in quick! Use the promotional code “FINYEAR09” during checkout to receive your discount.

Hi,

I was wondering what happens with different pricing for different clients?

Our client has MYOB set up to have different pricing for different customers of theirs.

How will this work in magento?
Will each customer have their own login and see their custom prices?
Is all of this automated during the sync?

I’m sure this is a very common issue with MYOB that has been addressed but i just want to know exactly how it all works before we would think about this module.

Do other people have this pricing setup to be different for different customers?

Thanks

M2M Sync will take whatever prices are used in the Magento orders when transferring the orders to MYOB, so if you have multiple pricing set up in Magento then discounts and adjustments will come across correctly.

Multiple prices for different customer groups can be achieved in Magento using tiered pricing, which is available on the “Prices” tab of the product editing page. You can find out more here: http://www.magentocommerce.com/knowledge-base/entry/how-do-i-use-tier-pricing

Please note that M2M Sync will only synchronise the base price for a product in MYOB. If you require sale prices, volume discounts or customer group pricing then this should be done in Magento directly. As mentioned above, any of these adjustments done in Magento to the price will be correctly reflected in the MYOB invoices created, regardless of the product price in MYOB.

Let me add my sixpence worth. Happy to leave this one with Fontis, we working in other areas and do not have the resources nor the interest in competing. However, we too are moving to a subscription basis for our products similarly to Fontis - and for the same reasons. He is correct about the problems of everything changing - not only will MYOB and Magento change, but Microsoft makes changes to Windows as well. Keeping a product up to date and working with all three requires more than just a single payment, it requires users willing to pay for the priviledge on an on-going basis. We find that 90% of our support has little to do with our programme doing something incorrectly, it is usually either the data is wrong or the user did something stupid. Support calls do take time and it doesn’t take many to make a user unviable. We came to the conclusion that if someone cannot justify $10.00 per week, we can’t afford to support them. Remember that any week we get a call from a client, we make no money from him not only that week, but several others as well. I also believe that if you aren’t seeing the savings you make as worth the investment, then you are probably right, it isn’t worth the investment to you. But if it saves you half an hour a week (based on only $20.00 per hour), then aren’t you ahead? Who would value their time at less than $20.00 per hour?
My suggestion is to support the product and help them build a product that justifies them spending more resources on its development. Having done the work in developing integration solutions, I can assure you it is more difficult than you imagine. Why do you think it took them so long? For every bit of code that runs when things go right, there are three that have to run when things do not. They have to be able to virtually handle anything you throw at it and come up smiling. Help them to make it better and to keep it working with new versions, see the subscription basis as not only valid, but also necessary.

Thanks a lot for your support Gibbo, and for taking the time to further clarify some of the issues that we face as developers in putting out a product like this. It’s just a commercial reality that we can’t support and develop the product without our customers also being prepared to support us.

I’d like to quickly remind everyone that there is less than one week remaining for our end of financial year promotion, so if you’re interested in signing up then be sure to get in before next Wednesday 1/7. Just follow the order link on the Fontis M2M Sync page to save 20% on the first year’s subscription. If you have any questions, check out our updated FAQ or get in touch so we can answer them for you. If you’d like a demo, or if there’s a missing feature that’s holding you back, give us a call and we’ll see what we can do. Remember, we’re offering a money back guarantee and unlimited support, so if it doesn’t work for you, we’ll provide a full refund.

We’ve also created a Magento Connect listing, should anyone want to use the associated forums there as an alternative to this thread — Edit: Oops, although commercial connect listings seem to create the child forums and do show links to them, they’re not actually accessible. Looks like the discussion stays here!

We have started using the Fontis product and there is some extra functionality we have advised the guys that should be done and they seem to be happily implementing those required changes - for the benefit of all users.

Seriously guys (and gals), $500/year for this product is nothing IF it does what you need and I think with talking with Chris it will pretty much meet everyones requirements.

Fontis seem very positive and intersted in making sure this product is very well accepted by those who buy it - their service so far has been very good.

When we get the next updated version (which will hopefully have some of the extra required functionality we require) I will give further feedback - but all is promising at this stage.

cool smile  Speak soon Chris, Max

I would love a Mac Version of this for Account Edge. I have contacted Fontis directly and they have no plans to develop one at this stage, but would be interested to see if there are any others using the Mac Version of MYOB that would be interested in this extension.

I would pay for this extension without a second thought if it was Mac compatible.

Happy to be the Guinea Pig if it helps!!!  grin

Im very keen on this module.

I just emailed them a few questions before i buy. Has anyone had similar questions:

Hi,

I have a magent store with multi stores. I use MYOB premier. The M2M software looks really good.
I read your FAQ but have a few questions.

Firstly I have a lot of bundle items like this page http://www.voicerecognition.com.au/dragon-naturally-speaking-premium-11.htm

How can I export to MYOB as magento recognizes the sale as one item , but in MYOB we put in the software as one item and the USB mic as other item? (two items that make up bundle)

Also, how this will effect the stock inventory as it will subtract the bundle as an item but not the individual items in MYOB’s inventory?

Is there any way around the bundle issues with magento and myob?
Also have you ever heard of anyone syncing Magento/MYOB and Freightmaster (AAE)? Its great to go from Magento to MYOB but then we have to manually type for freightmaster shipping!

I am very keen to buy this product. So please advise

thanks

russel

Hi Russel, we’ve replied by email to your questions. For everyone else’s benefit we’ll update the FAQ page with some more information about how M2M handles configurable, bundle and grouped products.
