Can anyone recommend UK hosting for Magento, ideally with 24/7 chat support and Softaculous?

Thanks in anticipation.

Are your visitors and clients mainly from the UK?

FYI if you are targeting a global audience, it will be best to go with servers based in the US.

This is because the US based datacenters have better and more stable connectivity to most parts of the world when compared to EU.

FYI most of the popular websites that you visit are actually hosted in the US.

this is kind a weird… to read… 10 years working in European data-centers....
I probably did something wrong in this life ....  smile

//no matter where is your server actually located, because if shit happened they all fail the same way....//
if you worried about connectivity and latency and for business in EU i would recommend servers in Germany and Netherlands with global CDN…

cheers

I’m sorry but that’s absolute rubbish. Firstly, EU Data Protection laws suggest that the stie should be hosted in the EU. Second, all of the Internap and Level 3 bandwidth in the world is not going to make up for the tremendous distance between the UK and the US, so it will still be slower hosted in the US.

Choose a good UK host and you’ll be fine.

VPS is very bad solution about Magento hosting.
You will need dedicated server or something similar.
Also Apache server is bad solution for Magento.
You can contact me i can give you trial hosting on my server and you will see the diference.

This not true at all. Magento runs perfectly fine on a shared hosting environment provided. We have packages from fifteen quid a month with sub second load times.

Yes, totally agree with you. Magento can run very well on shared host. If you can’t get it work well on VPS then let ‘s take a look your configuration, I believe you miss some important things.
