Hello,

I would like to ask for an advise. We use Magmi for mass product imports (~5000) every day. After each import an rexindexing is needed and this slows down our server so much it is not acceptable when there are customers on the site.

My two question are:

Is there any way to set server priority for reindexing process so it wont shut our server down ?

Is there any way to reindex products in real time so after products are imported using Magmi there is no need to reindex all of my products?

Thank you very much.

in fact, magmi uses the magento reindexer (the exact one that canbe called through ssh command line)

however, magmi also provides on the fly reindexer which can take care of :
- catalog_url_rewrite (one of the most demanding in terms of requests)
- catalog category product

so, you could uncheck those from magmi magento reindexer config (but keeping other indexes you need) & use the on the fly reindexer plugin.

this may save most of the processing needed.

If you only update products prices & stock (not creating new ones nor updating other attributes), you can just check price reindexing & inventory stock reindexing, which take much less time.

Hello.

You can reindex only changed or added produts and categories.

Take a look this extension http://mirasvit.com/magento-extensions/magento-asynchronous-reindex.html
