Multiple Vendors that share a global catalog of products?

Hi,

I\’m currently looking for a multiple vendor solution with Magento (newbie speaking). So far, I\’ve found a couple of threads here in the foums, and two extensions,
http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/magento-vendor-dropshipping-extension.html
http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-connect/qikdropshipper-a-multiple-vendors-drop-shipping-extension.html

An important feature that I need is the possibility that more than one vendor can sell the same product. That is, if product P (along with its description, images, and some other \"global\" attributes) is already part of that global catalog, vendor V should have the ability to add it to their catalog and specify their price and possibly some other attributes (relating to shipping costs etc).

On a side note, are there any other multiple vendor extensions other than the ones listed above? Any experience on those?
Do they require any interaction from the \"global\" store owner when billing/shipping products, or is all that left to the individual vendors? And does the global store owner have to pay the vendors their share manually, or is the revenue automatically split up so the vendors get their share, and the global store owner their commission?

Regards
ockham

Hi I’m interested in your vendor extension. I have several concerns. Do vendors have their own separate admin login using your extension? Can vendors block or designate which customers’ group (i.e. wholesale) can sell their products base on their IP address? Can vendors set up tier pricing or wholesale pricing for their products? Can vendors assign agents to sell their products under their account after super admin has approved the agent? Can the super admin assign or restrict vendors to specific groups or statuses (i.e. agent-commission only)? Do vendors have control other vendors’ products? I like the OP ideal of allowing vendors to sell products already loaded in the existing store catalog but I’d like to restrict them from changing the product’s price to eliminate any possibility of competition or underselling existing products.

The solution you offer is really good to do business with, but not without risks. I am studying this now, here is some tips on major pros and cons of handling this business model http://www.file2cart.com/blog/6600-drop-ship-ecommerce-to-start-or-not-to-start
